1966 Porsche 911 - Solex Carburetion Wood Dash Aga Blue. Excellent restoration project - I planned to restore this car and started on the engine but I just do not have the time to complete it. This is a California car that was raced in various local club events in Southern California but it has been off the road since 1978!!! Kardex says the original owner was in Lancaster California - which is where I found it - California high dessert - dry location. This car was built January 1966.
Comes with the matching number engine, Engine needs to be assembled, most of the prep work has been started - engine case has been inspected and machined by Walt Watson Competition Engineering, Walt prepped the case for assembly, fitted the layshaft to the case (important on these early cases), piston squirters installed. Cylinder heads fully restored with new valve seats and valves - $7,500 in machine work. Complete rebuilt Solex carburetor system with air cleaner, Pierburg dual fuel pump rebuilt, original steel hard lines, carburetors rebuilt by Tuthill. Fan restored by Motshagen.
Matching number 5 speed transmission fully restored/rebuilt ready to use, all new bearings, syncros on 1st & 2nd, dog teeth on 1st, 5th gear changed from X to ZA for lower freeway cruising speed RPM this service cost $5500.
A mechanical restoration could be done to this car and drive it as a rat hot rod and it will get as much attention as a restored car.
The younger sister of this car just sold through auction for $220,000USD VIN #303501 in the same Aga Blue color. Not many unrestored Solex early 911 left!
