There are some great restorations out there these days, and some which can be very questionable, finding an all original car is a real difficult task. The experienced eye will be able to pick this car out of a crowd, seeing the originality and know its just right. Its Soul is still intact. This is an all original 1 owner car that has sat most of its life in a close garage covered up. Bought new on September 8th 1971 at Carlsen Porsche Audi in downtown San Francisco on Van Ness St. There is something about 1 owner cars, they are always in much better condition and more correct than the rest of the cars, when you figure the first owner paid more than anyone else they take care of it always as a new car. This car originally came in one of the most beautiful original Porsche colors Albert Blue. The car has been repainted one time. The exterior of this car has the 911S appearance group which includes Fuchs alloy wheels and 911S deco trim. You will also notice that this car is wearing its original orange bar hood badge, original antenna, original Silver optioned targa and rear deck emblem. The glass is all original optional colored (tinted), the windshield is also the original Sigla unit. Interior is black leatherette with grey perlon carpeting and what makes it so special is all the materials are original from 1971 with nearly zero wear, even the targa top material, even the trunk carpet is original material. There is a certain something you get from the feel and smell of an old car that is in great shape, this car has that. Options inside the car include leather wrapped steering wheel, 911S gauges, Blaupunkt Frankfurt AM/FM radio, and a factory Behr Air Conditioning blower complete the interior. This car is fitted with its original A/C  but the system is not charged or working - we think it is close to working as all components are present; an important note is to watch out for cars with dealer installed A/C as these systems are not the same quality as original German installed Behr and please note that the washer bottle in the trunk is in the original location for cars with factory A/C.

The records with the car show regular service at the dealership up until 40,000 miles, after this the car was serviced by until the owner moved to rural Idaho. When the car arrived at the owners new town he quickly realized that the poor road conditions would harm his Porsche, this is what saved the car. It was put on blocks in the garage and covered up for 25+ years. The car sat for long periods without harm, no kids bicycles bumping up against the car, no outside storage. When the car was pulled out it needed a ton of cleaning. Weeks of cleaning a full polish, and a set of tires made the car right again. After it was cleaned and brought back into service we have put a few hundred miles on it driving around town and down to the beach. The car performs flawlessly, starts every time, and is very comfortable to drive.

In summary this car is an excellently cared for original matching number example in one of the best colors ever offered. This car is not as fast as a 911S or 911E, it is more of a cruiser than a racer, but it is not priced like one of the higher end models. I would like to see this car go to a first time vintage 911 buyer who will take care of it for many years to come but I would not be surprised if the car goes to a seasoned 911 collector who needs a targa to compliment their other cars. Don't wait, this may be one of those cars you kick yourself for not buying!
