A one owner classic car is usually a cut above all others, the reason being the first owner paid full price for the car and they always valued the car as such. When a car is passed down it usually becomes less significant, less cherished, and worth less to the next owner. To find a very desirable collector car that has only been owned and cared for by one great person for over 42 years is just about impossible to locate. Harriet Brown went into a Norman Scott Porsche dealer of Houston Texas in spring of 1971 and asked to buy a Porsche 911 targa, the first salesman told her to come back with her husband. Harriet was not happy with that treatment so she went to the very next salesman in the dealership and demanded “I want to buy one of these 911 targas in yellow and I want to pay cash for it”, the second salesman shocked by the forwardness simply said to her “will you marry me?”

Harriet got her Light Yellow Porsche 911E targa and she cared for it every day, she did not marry the second salesman but she did marry a man who owned a 914-6, early in 1973 they moved to Los Angeles area, Studio City, and brought both of the Porsches out with them .  The car acquired blue/yellow California license plates in 1973 and has worn them ever since. This car has only been in dry climates its entire life so it has no rust anywhere on the chassis. Only 2 independent Porsche repair shops have maintained this car its entire life and all the records are included with the car. The car has received one re-paint in 1996 which still shines very well. The car has always been cared for and maintained, in 1999 with 137,00 miles the engine was completely rebuilt by Jack Phlueger and the transmission was gone through as well.

This car is so original that it could be an example for restoration status quo of other 71 911 cars. Un-modified and unrestored this car wears 90% of its original interior. Leather usually does not last but this interior has survived very well. There are a couple cracks in the dash (we can replace this dash on request) and some of the leather has shrunk to a slight degree but overall very presentable. Door pockets in nice shape, original Sigla windshield, Behr A/C is complete in almost operational condition (we can service this on request), no rust anywhere on this car, no accidents on this car, all trim is original, doors ping when they close, original trunk carpet, original leather, leather steering wheel, excellent chrome, original orange bar hood badge.

Mechanically this car is a well maintained excellent driver. You could start it up every weekend and enjoy it. It is not an over the top fresh restoration that will cost double the asking but this car is a survivor that drives like a car with very low mileage. Power is very strong and the car is very fast the way a 2.2E should be. The 911E is much better suited to modern day driving conditions with traffic and speeds under 80MPH. We see no issues with the drivetrain in this car.

In summary this is a matching numbers, one owner, survivor, in a great color, with everything a collector would want. All of the history is known, the condition is fabulous, and all of the pertinent items are present – original maintenance book, owner’s manual, service records, full tool kit, tire jack & spare.  The one and only owner really has kept the car out of harm’s way. We have seen many restorations recently costing significantly more than our asking but not being as original or as nice. The car has been fully detailed and authentically corrected by Vintage Excellence so the car is ready for the new - second owner.
